This might seem like a crazy claim but here me out...
The classic recommendation when looking for a learning tower is that your child should be hip height on the bench. Now yes, this mimics an adults position and gives them a lot of reach across the bench and allows them to have good downwards pressure when they're cutting. However, it doesn't take into account a child's age and cognitive ability.
Giving a 18 month - 2 year old full access to the bench at hip height is just a recipe for disaster. They don't need the full range of motion this allows and it just means they'll be able to get into trouble easily. From reaching across the bench to access things you thought were out of the way, to grabbing ingredients and tipping them off, it's just not a great time.
Our lower platform allows the younger children to be involved, to see, to access things that you give them but doesn't allow them too much access that they could get into trouble or climb up easily onto the bench (not that this is impossible with our Folding Learning Tower, please make sure to have adequate, close supervision).
The lower, fixed step also allows the Folding Learning Tower to be used for longer. It's not uncomon for 6 year olds to still not be able to get enough downward pressure on a knife when standing on the floor up against the bench, so being able to use our learning tower without the safety bar gives the FLT more longevity for your kids.
You wont be listing this one on marketplace as soon as your kid turns 4, that's for sure! They'll continue to use it into young pre school age, and you'll find yourself grabbing for it time and time again for jobs around the house.
This Folding Learning Tower was designed for parents and grandparents who value safety and longevity in the products.
